All-Parish Outdoor Mass & Picnic

OUTDOOR MASS

10:00 a.m. in the South Parking Lot

Confession and Saturday 4:00 p.m. Mass will take place as scheduled on September 7. In case of inclement weather on Sunday, we will resume our regular Mass schedule (7:00, 9:00, and 11:00 a.m.). Cancellations will be announced via the website and Flocknote.

PARKING & SHUTTLE

The parking lots on the parish and school campus will be used for Mass. Some parking spaces are reserved for those with physical limitations (map coming soon!). All other parking will be at the Shawnee Mission School District Center for Academic Achievement at 8200 W. 71st Street. A shuttle bus will run from the CAA to Queen of the Holy Rosary every 15 minutes between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. 

REGISTRATION

In the spirit of getting to know the members of our community, we would like everyone to wear a name tag while attending the Outdoor Mass. Name tags will be available on the shuttle bus as well as at the Registration/Information Tables.

PICNIC SCHEDULE & ACTIVITIES

Lunch: After Mass (about 11:30 a.m.) until 1:00 p.m.

The Knights of Columbus will be grilling hot dogs, hamburgers, and veggie burgers, and we will provide side dishes. Please see the sign up to volunteer to provide cookies for dessert and/or bottled water.

Beer Garden

The Men of Queen will have a tent set up in the south parking lot.

Bingo: 12:00-2:00 p.m.

The iCare community will be on hand to lead everyone's favorite letters-and-numbers game! Look for the tent on the south side of the church.

Caricature Artist: 11:30-2:00 p.m.

Capture the joy of the day with a fun drawing of you with your friends and family! Our artist will be set up near the Bingo tent.

Inflatables and Family Field Games: 11:30-3:00 p.m.

The kids can run, bounce, and play to their hearts' content on the playground and inflatable obstacle course south of the school building.  From about 12:30 to 1pm, Walking with Moms and John Paul II School families will organize Family Field Games (think 3-legged races, and relay races) in the field south of the gaga ball pit. There will also be an activity space for littles. Tons of fun for the whole family!

Catholic Charities Food Truck

The Catholic Charities Food Truck will be parked in the south parking lot. Below is our most needed list for September. This list comes directly from our warehouse (Hope Distribution Center).

Soup

As always, we request no glass jars and no industrial size food items.  We also request –low sodium & pop-top cans if possible.

  • Check or cash: Write Food Drive – Parish Name in the memo line. Mail to or drop off at: Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas, 9720 W 87th St, Overland Park, KS 66212
  • On- Site Collection: DO NOT put the money in with the food/in a food bin.  We will not see it. Either drop the collected money off at 9720 West 87th Street – in an envelope label Food Drive - Parish Name. If you send it back with the truck to put it in an envelope under the driver's seat, label Food Drive – Parish Name

 

St. Mary's Food Kitchen

Queen's day to serve is Thursday, September 12. Pick up a casserole pan at one of the welcome tables when you come in!
